Aesculus parviflora Bottlebrush Buckeye
Exposure: Sun to Part Shade
Flower Time: June
Ornamental Characteristics:
Because of A. Parviflora’s gain in popularity over the years, a full description may not be needed. However, we love the plant so much we must tout its attributes. A.P. forms a large, mounded, suckering shrub. The palmate leaves add to is unique appearance without it being the ugly duckling. Then, just as you grow accustom to its summer look, massive 12” to 18” spikes of while flowers top the ends of the branches. As fall approaches the foliage takes on a decent butter yellow color. This species is tolerant of a wide range of soils and can handle a considerable level of drought.
