A native of the Southeast US, Calycanthus has been ignored long enough.
Few plants can tolerate wet and dry conditions better, while
still consistently performing.
The flowers have an array of fragrance intensities being our plants are
seedlings. However, when the fragrance is there, the sweet,
bannana-like smell will fill the entire garden. We have
selected out some frangrant seedlings and will be offering rooted
cuttings of these in the near future. We are also evaluating
a more compact and diminutive selection.
Fall color is not amazing, but a consistent butter yellow that will
liven the garden.
