Characteristics:
Finally,
a Forsythia with great ornamental value that does
not require a 20 acre farm to plant it on.
This genus has been utilized as an early flowering shrub
for many, many
years, which eventually resulted in plants that consumed a tremendous
amount of
real estate. Kumson
has overcome that
history. Wonderful
yellow flowers greet
spring every year with the same impact as older, larger selections. However, it has gone one
step further with a
foliar display that will add interest and color to the garden for the
remainder
of the growing season. The
deep green
leaves are imbedded with yellow veins, creating a contrast that will
even catch
the attention of the most plant deaf person (if that really exists). Kumson does an excellent
job of adding color
to a planting between the bloom times of its neighbors.
Planting this selection in the full shade
will drastically reduce the variegated effect, while partial shade will
prevent
bleaching foliage and ensure a nice variegated display all season.
