Kerria
japonica ‘Picta’
Variegated Japanese Kerria
Size: 6’ X
Slow Spreading
Exposure: Full
sun to Shade (Best with at least some Shade)
Flower
Time:
May, sporadically until frost
Ornamental
Characteristics:
Take
all that was said about Golden Guinea with the
following changes. The
foliage of Picta
has an irregular white edge surrounding a green center.
This variegation holds up wonderfully
throughout the growing season with little to no burn.
Another difference is the flower size.
Variegated Kerria’s flowers are more like the
species (1/2” to ¾” diameter) in average abundance.
While the floral display is not as intense,
it is still worthwhile. It
does not
spread near as fast as the green varieties either.
