Sambucus
nigra ‘Pulverulenta’
Variegated
Elderberry
Size: 4’ X 6’
Exposure: Sun
to Part Shade
Flower
Time: June
Ornamental
Characteristics:
This
plant has the same species characteristics as mentioned
in Madonna, but deviates as described below.
After observing this selection in Bernheim’s nursery, the
plant has a
much smaller stature than the species.
Without yearly cutback, Pulverulenta maintains a dense
habit in full
sun. The
variegation on the foliage is
reminiscent of them being sprayed with white spray paint. These irregular spots hold
up well in full
sun with no burn. All
soil and moisture
tolerances are the same as the species.
