With
the world full of fan-leaved evergreens, why
offer one more? There
are two
reasons. One is
that it offers another
alternative to the overused Arborvitae.
The second reason is due to its ability to tolerate shady
conditions. Too
often we witness
Arborvitae in shade which results in it thinning out and becoming quite
unattractive. Thujopsis has a wonderful deep green
color to its leaves that it
retains through the cold winds of winter.
An addition to its beauty, the underside of the foliage
has blue-green
striations that create a nice flash of color during windy conditions. This plant’s ability to
tolerate dryness in
the midst of shade allows it to fill a much needed void to boot.
